The Blue Ridge Music
Trails makes it easy for the traveler to find authentic regional folk
music, to meet musicians who have grown up with that music, to visit
settings in which Blue Ridge folk music thrives, to see traditional
dancing, and in many cases, to take part in the festivities.
When using the Blue Ridge
Music Trails website, keep in mind:
• All events listed
here are open to the public.
• A few events include "jams" in which visiting musicians
are welcome to participate.
• Hours and dates for music events sometimes change. When
in doubt, confirm
details with the contact person listed for the event.
• Local Chambers of Commerce are often good sources for event,
lodging,
and dining information.
• Internet maps, particularly those of rural areas, vary in accuracy.
Using
"Search"
There are a number of ways to sort through the music venues in the
Blue Ridge Music Trails database. Start by clicking "Search" in
the header on any page.
On the right side of the
"Search" page you will find a regional map of the Virginia-
Carolina Blue Ridge. Simply click on a region of the map to see a list of
links to all the music events and venues within that region.
For a more detailed
search, use the form on the left side of the "Search" page.
Searches can be done by region, state, locality, keyword, and/or date,
with the following results:
• Region-returns the
events and venues in the selected region.
• State-returns only those venues in the selected state.
• List All by County-returns all venues by county.
• Location-searches by county or town names. (When searching by
county,
do not enter the word "county.")
• Keyword-searches by keyword(s) in the event titles and descriptions.
To use
multiple keywords, put a space between each keyword.
• From - To-returns events within a single month or range of months.
