The Friday Night Jamboree is held every Friday night at the Floyd Country Store‚ and bluegrass concerts are staged periodically on Saturday nights. These events are worthy tributes to old-time and bluegrass music and to mountain dance. Many of those who attend the Friday Night Jamboree are regulars‚ but the Jamboree also gets visitors every week from across the country. The Friday evening jam sessions begin with an hour of gospel music performed by a group of local old-timers‚ and then various bands take turns playing onstage. Often musicians jam in the parking lot‚ and the audience sometimes flows over into the street on summer nights. The Jamboree is a kind of happening that is hard to find anymore – musicians coming together to play just for the love of the music, and people getting together just for the fun of it. It’s an experience you won’t soon forget. General admission is $10.00, children 7-12 are $7.00, and children under 6 are free; tickets are available at the door at 4:45pm.
